The Epic: 2010 Men’s Retreat

No man can write another man’s story. There are however, men that are gifted and set apart to point the way. Al Andrews has helped men for more then a decade identify critical chapters of the story their lives have written so far. Al brings great news! No story is finished and every story can have a strong ending reflecting a life well lived.”

Camp Widjiwagan Dining Hall

October 8-10 will find Tribes, GracePointe Church’s men group, on the shores of Percy Priest Lake. Our annual gathering is open to both men from GracePointe, as well as those not involved in church, who are twenty-one and older. It will be an opportunity to spend time listening, talking and relaxing with other guys that have common interests, common questions and an awareness that all men have a story to tell.

This is the fourth year that the event has been held in middle Tennessee. Once again, Tribes returns to Camp Widjiwagan on the shores of Percy Priest Lake. Located only thirty minutes from the church, even men leaving work later on Friday can arrive in time for dinner. The campus is not only known for its food but its multi-million dollar facilities as well. Our event provides four great meals, two nights in new cabins and an afternoon for basketball, sand volleyball, fishing, napping or reading; take your pick.

Al Andrews

Our featured speaker, Al Andrews, is well known to many in the music industry. His ministry is known as Porters Call, and he provides advice, mentoring and counsel to professionals nationally. Al has never done a men’s event here in Nashville and the word is already out, but the men of GracePointe will have the first opportunity to register. Space is limited this year so click the link below to register and make sure that you are part of The Epic 2010.

Our event starts with check in at 5:30pm on Friday night. We will share dinner beginning at 6:30pm and our first gathering will be at 8:00pm. We will have fires each night and be able to really enjoy the cool fall weather this year. There are two morning meetings Saturday morning, lunch together and then an entire afternoon of free time. Last year there was pretty serious basketball and volleyball and the smack has already started this year!

Saturday evening we will again spend time with Al, be led in worship with Josh Hailey and end the evening with a fire on the shores of the lake. We will close this year with a Sunday morning sunrise service and finish in time to make the services at GracePointe church later that morning.

  1. I have been to every Gracepointe men’s retreats. As one of the younger guys I was really hesitant at first but the experience was so great that looking back I am so glad that I took the opportunity to go.

Because I have attended these events, I have gotten to know so many more guys who I just saw on Sunday at church and that has made a church more of a place where I feel like I belong. I feel more a part of the community of men and feel that I am not alone in this brotherhood of faith. You get to spend a weekend sharing meals, stories, volleyball/basketball, and insight all while growing together.

On Saturday afternoon last year we played sand volleyball and then watched the football game and it was just a great weather day as well.

On another note, this year’s speaker Al Andrews is a personal friend/mentor of mine and is a powerful communicator in a very understated way. He is not a traditional speaker/author/pastor, but is gifted with so much wisdom that he unofficially pastors hundred of artists, leaders, and thinkers of the faith. I have come to appreciate him so much in my own life. You will be encouraged, empowered, and best of all you will get to hear some great stories that will change your life.
